TANK "TOODIE"
in memory (2009-2020)

Once upon a time, there lived the yellowest, fluffiest, liveliest, most loving & funny dog-like creature named Tank. He came along part & parcel with Johanna when she met Mark, and though initially thrown a bit by Tank’s exuberance, Mark opened his heart for the glorious beast that would surely become his long-time best friend. This spirited husky-mix, also known by nickname “Toodie,” grew to be one of the community’s most cherished beings with friends high & low. He enjoyed sporting fancy bandanas, cowboy hats. Toodie maintained his youthful, devoted, affectionate character through to the end of a struggle with lymphoma, & he will always live on with honor in the hearts of all who were blessed with the opportunity to know him.

our story

Mark & Johanna met when working late nights at Clubside Café, a friendly, locally-owned small business in Olympia, WA.

Johanna later went on to be the Kitchen Manager at a local favorite breakfast spot, Darby’s Café, which was later featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

Mark worked for a few years at the breakfast place right down the street, the New Moon Café, where Johanna helped flip eggs & assemble omelets from time to time with him on the weekends.

They both also worked in the Olympia favorite Mexican-inspired restaurant, Quality Burrito, & also McMenamin’s Spar Café, where Mark became a Kitchen Manager & was famous for leading a team that produced quick, quality, homemade brunch.

Mark has had a long-time dream to move back to his hometown & establish roots in the Glasgow community. Johanna is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Counseling, & has gratefully felt right at home with the warm welcoming of the Glasgow Mental Health Center.

With many years of interdisciplinary experience under their belts & a deep passion for creativity & sense of community inherent in a genuine, thoughtful food service establishment, these two could not be more excited to open their doors & hearts to the town of Glasgow.
